Icelandic painter born Gudmundur Gudmundsson in Olafsvik. From 1949-51 studied at the Art Academy in Reykjavik, 1952-54 mural painting at Oslo Academy and 1955-58 at Art Academy in Florence and mosaic techniques in Ravenna. Erro’s paintings combine styles and quotes from various eras and genres into amusing satires on modern society. First one-person exhibition, Galleria Santa Trinita, Florence. In 1958 moved to Paris and made first collages. Musée National Betzalel, Jereusalem; MoMA, Haifa. 1962 Happening with Jean Jacques Lebel, Galerie Cordier, Paris. Published the first Mécanifeste in Venice.
