Biography
Painter and art critic born in La Vega, Dominican Republic. His first teach was his uncle Enrique García-Godoy, and he has exhibited in his home town before the creation of the Fine Arts School. He is considered, together with Jaime Colson and Yoryi Morel, one of the most important painters of Dominican Republic. He lived in Mexico between 1943 and 1947, meeting the Mexican masters Diego Rivera, Lazo e Guerrero Galván. When he returned to the Dominican Republic he did his first solo show at the National Gallery of Fine Arts. Besides painting he was as well an art critic and a diplomat. He lived in Washington in the last days. He has exhibited in London, Paris, Madrid, Italy, Colombia, Germany and United Sates, specially in the Riverside Museum, Rose Eried Gallery and in Paindexter, New York. He participated in the Venice and Pittsburg Bienniales.
