From the beginning the work of Gianfranco Pardi is centralized on the study of the space, the full loads and the empty ones, on the relationship between abstraction and construction. In the 1959 occurs his first solo show at the Alberti Gallery, while the following year is hosted by the Galleria Colonna in Milan. During the Sixties he develops a new style that mixes the design, the painting, the sculpture and the architecture. In 1965 he participates at the group exhibition La figuration narrative dans l'art contemporain in Paris. In 1967 he starts its collaboration with the Studio Marconi in Milan and he begins to revisit the historical vanguards like the Abstractionism, the Suprematism, the Constructivism and the Neoplasticism. In the seventies he develops in its Architetture the will to construct and to found a space through the painting, since he thinks that this medium can immediately produce the idea. In his works he develops through geometric signs, gestures and little color, the expression of the costructivism concept. In 1974, and later on in 1993, he participates at the XXVII Biennial at the Palazzo della Permanente in Milan and in 1981 at two important group exhibitions "Linee della ricerca artistica" in Italia 1960/1980, at the Palazzo delle esposizioni in Rome, and "Luogo della forma", at the Museum of Castelvecchio in Verona. In 1984 the Università di Parma organizes an anthological exhibition and two years later he participates with a solo show to the Venice Biennial, the Triennial in Milan and the Quadriennale in Rome. Between the end of the Eighties and the beginning of the Nineties he realizes the works of the series Cinema, Monk and Maschere, concentrating himself on using iron supports. Subsequently his artistic research is addressed on the topic of "Montagna-Sainte Victoire", inspired by Cézannes’ works, and to the series entitled Nagjma, inspired by the light and the night of Tangeri, and Box, that are works realized with cartboard boxes. In the 1998 Palazzo Reale in Milan dedicates to him a solo show. The following year an important series of exhibitions are organized in Germany at the Frankfurter Kunstverein of Frankfurt, at the Museum Bochum of Bochum and at the Kulturhistorisches Museum of Stralsund, whereas in 2000 it takes place his solo show named Homeless at Giò Marconi in Milan. In 2002 the Fumagalli Gallery in Bergamo dedicates to him the solo show "Sheets", while in 2003 he exposes again at the Giò Marconi with a series of works titled Danza and Restauro. The artist lives and works in Milan.
