Born in Chile, Jorge Tacla has been living and working in New York City since 1981. Memories of The Bronx for the Bronx Housing Court was Tacla's first public commission. Tacla, who is primarily a painter, has exhibited around the world: his most recent exhibitions have been in Santiago, Chile; Valencia, Spain; Stockholm, Sweden; Caracas, Venezuela; Escondido, California; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and New York City. He has received grants and awards from: the AT&T Foundation; the Brazilian Eco Art Award; the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation; the New York Foundation for the Arts.
